This Privacy Policy explains how Rhoizos handles personal information when you visit the site, create an account, comment, submit writing, subscribe, contact us, request a licence, support the publication, or otherwise use our services. We aim to collect only what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.

1. Information you provide

We may receive information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, username, profile information, date of birth, links to social profiles, comments, submissions, organisation or publication, correspondence, licensing details, and anything else you include in a form or email.

If you create an account, we store the information needed to authenticate you, maintain your profile, associate comments and submissions with your account, and provide member features. Passwords are stored as one-way password hashes. If you enable two-step verification, we store the technical secret needed to verify one-time codes and one-way hashes of recovery codes. Passkeys are stored using public-key credential data; your private passkey material remains with your device or credential provider.

Comments and submitted or edited articles may be screened by automated moderation rules. We may retain moderation statuses, labels, and reasons alongside the relevant content so editors can review decisions, investigate abuse, and enforce community rules.

2. Technical information

Our hosting, security, database, delivery, and infrastructure providers may process routine technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, request time, referring page, requested URL, and diagnostic or security logs.

We use this data to deliver the site, maintain reliability, diagnose faults, prevent abuse, protect the service, and understand basic operational performance. We do not use it to build behavioural advertising profiles.

3. Cookies and browser storage

The site may use essential cookies or local browser storage for authentication, security, passkeys, appearance preferences, and related service functions. These are not used for targeted advertising.

4. How we use personal information

• to create and authenticate accounts and provide member features;
• to display profiles, comments, authorship, and published contributions;
• to review and administer submissions and moderation;
• to deliver subscriptions and requested communications;
• to respond to editorial, rights, privacy, correction, and general enquiries;
• to review and administer republication and licensing requests;
• to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the site;
• to detect and prevent fraud, misuse, and technical abuse;
• to keep records needed for contracts, licensing, accounting, disputes, or legal obligations.

5. Service providers

We may use third-party providers for hosting, databases, email delivery, authentication, security, analytics, and payment processing. They may process information needed to provide those services.

If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, the provider may send Rhoizos an account identifier and verified email address and, where available, profile information such as your name or avatar.

Financial support is processed through Dodo Payments. Dodo Payments processes checkout, payment, billing, and related transaction information under its own terms and privacy practices. Rhoizos does not receive or store your full payment-card number through the Rhoizos website.

We do not sell personal information or subscriber lists to advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

6. International processing

Some service providers may operate in more than one country, so information may be processed outside the country where you live.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for service delivery, security, record-keeping, licensing, dispute resolution, and legal or accounting requirements.

8. Your choices and requests

You can unsubscribe through the link included in our emails. Where applicable, you may also ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Rhoizos is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children through the site.
